Last Call Hunting Retrievers specializes in training Black, Chocolate and Yellow Labrador Retrievers for waterfowl hunting. We also train and handle retrievers in HRC and AKC hunt tests.

MY STORY
My name is Chris Figge. My entire life, I have worked with a variety of sporting dog breeds. It started before I can ever remember running coonhounds and beagles with my father. We then moved onto bird dogs. By the time I was a teenager we discovered retrievers which became my passion.
As an avid Waterfowl hunter I know what makes a good duck dog. I trained my first retriever in the eleventh grade and from there I was hooked. In 2019 I decided to take the leap and become a “professional” retriever trainer.
Unlike some of the big name pros, I am a very small operation. I only train a small number of dogs at a time. This gives your dog a lot of one on one attention to help them succeed.

What I Offer You and Your Retriever
RETRIEVER TRAINING
Whether you simply want an obedient dog that will pick up your ducks or you want that no slip retriever that handles like a remote control car, I can train your retriever into what you want. It just takes time.
Keep in mind every dog is different. But a rough average of time needed to train a retriever is:
3 months for a started level retriever,
6 months for a seasoned level retriever
9+ months for a finished level retriever
HUNT TEST HANDLING
A trained hunting retriever is something to be proud of. By running hunt tests and earning titles, you can honor your retrievers hard work and proudly prove all the hard work they have put in and what they have accomplished.
I can handle your dog at all levels in both HRC and AKC. I have titled numerous retrievers and ran in countless hunt tests. I have the experience to read what the retriever is thinking and handle them accordingly to succeed when it counts the most.
RATES
Gun Dog / Hunt Test Training (Labrador Retrievers Only)$600 a month
Advanced Gun Dog Training (once a dog has earned their HRCH title)$500 a month
Obedience Training$700 a month.
Obedience training for dogs over 60 pounds or over 2 years old$800 a month.
Boarding$25 a night
Hunt test handling$50 a day PLUSHotel & Fuel expenses divided by the number of dogs on the truck
This includes boarding in our climate controlled kennel.
You are responsible for providing a quality food for your dog while it is being trained at Last Call Hunting Retrievers. On average a dog goes through a 50 lb bag of feed a month. You provide feed one of three ways:1. Simply bring feed to the kennel.2. Order it from an online source (such as Chewy) and have it shipped to the kennel.3. Have is purchase it from our local feed store and invoice you for it. We feed Victor brand.
Veterinary expenses are your responsibility. Heartworm preventative is included under vet expenses. All retrievers coming to Last Call are required to be on an established heartworm preventative regimen.
Your retriever will undergo an intensive training program. Because of this, injuries can happen. Most are very minor muscle strains etc. If your dog sustains an injury or illness, you will be contacted immediately and the dog will be taken to the nearest vet at your expense.
OBEDIENCE
If you aren’t needing that amazing duck dog or that titled hunt test dog, but you want your pet to be an obedient good citizen, reach out to us. Last Call Hunting Retrievers LLC may be a great option for you. Sessions can be done at my state-of-the-art training facility with personalized plans to fit your pet’s needs and your lifestyle.
Obedience training is for all breeds and can be done year round. Our obedience program is 30 days and is $700.
